A plan for poverty

A coalition of anti-poverty groups will appear before regional councillors today pressing them to make the issue part of their 2011-2015 strategic plan.

“Poverty Free Waterloo Region” will present a petition to council calling for, among other things, the creation of a strategic plan to eliminate poverty and for the Region to push for a national strategy to wipe out poverty.

“Poverty Free Waterloo Region” is made up of various groups, such as the Interfaith Social Assistance Reform Coalition, the Mennonite Central Committee, The Social Planning Council of Cambridge and North Dumfries, and The Social Planning Council of Kitchener-Waterloo.
