Former Ranger suspended for doping violation

Two OHL players have each been suspended for eight games after testing positive for a banned substance.
One of the players is former Kitchener Ranger now Plymouth Whaler Alex Aleardi.
The other is Ryan O’Connor of the Saginaw Spirit.
The banned substance they tested positive for (methylhexanamine)
is often found in nasal sprays and supplements.
In both cases, it was in nutritional supplements the players took.
The banned substance was found in urine samples conducted during an in-competition doping control that was conducted in November 2010.
OHL Commissioner, David Branch tells 570 News it’s disappointing from the standpoint you hope it would never occur.
He says these are the first two suspensions since the league’s anti-doping control program was introduced three years ago.
Branch calls the violations very innocent and accidental, but adds this should serve as a reminder to players to pay attention to what they are putting in their bodies.
Kitchener traded Aleardi to Belleville last season.
