Murder suspect in court

One of the accused in a New Year’s Eve murder has made a second court appearance in Kitchener.
The 16-year-old entered the courtroom in handcuffs, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
He appeared to be upset and crying, wiping his eyes with his sweatshirt.
When he left the court, he held up his hand and gave a peace sign.
The accused is one of two teens charged in the stabbing death of
60-year-old John Ferreira.
Both teens also face aggravated assault charges in the attack on Ferreira’s son.
Ferreira was walking with his son along the Iron Horse Trail near Victoria and West Avenue on New Year’s Eve when he was killed.
His 35-year-old son was stabbed in the neck.
The 16-year-old accused will reappear in person against next Wednesday.
