Waterloo Swimplex Re-opening

Repairs are underway at the Waterloo Swimplex. The re-opening is scheduled for Saturday, January 15th.
A construction accident at the facility led to an extended shutdown of the pool.
Spokesperson Gary Williams says contractors over the next week will continue efforts in completing repairs to the floor, tiles and lighting system.
The installation of a ramp that was damaged at the pool is expected to be completed by January, 11, 2011.
Williams says, following the ramp installation, an additional four days are required to fill, heat and chemically balance the pool.
The extended shutdown will impact both groups as well as the start date of the winter swim lesson session.
Williams says staff is currently working to re-schedule the lessons, and says the City of Waterloo staff will also be calling affiliated groups, as well as any other impacted customers, to inform them of the projected re-opening next week.
