2010 Will Go Down As A Warm Year

This year will go down as the 5th warmest on record in Waterloo region.
That’s the big weather story from 2010, according to the University of Waterloo weather station’s coordinator, Frank Seglenieks. He says that even though the temperatures weren’t scorching, they were consistently about a degree above average.
The warmest day came on July 5th, when the temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius. Two days later, it hit 46 degrees with the humidex.
The coldest day was -21 on January 10th.
This year was also an unusual one for snow.
Seglenieks says we received only half the average amount we’re used to, at about 79 centimetres.
The year also started off with very little rain, but that changed in June and July.
On July 23rd, the region received just over 35 millimetres of rain in less than an hour, something we only see once every 10 years.
