Solar funding

The Waterloo Region District School Board has been awarded almost $800,000 from the province for solar projects.

The funding is part of the Renewable Energy Funding for Schools initiative.

It will be used on Blair Road PS, Forest Glen PS, Forest Heights Collegiate Institute, Lincoln Heights PS and Waterloo Collegiate Institute.

The plan is for each school to generate approximately 13,000 kWh of energy output each year.

The new systems should be in place before the start of the next school year.
