Remembrance day resonates among majority

The vast majority of respondents to our latest Insider Survey at www.570news.com say yes, they remember well.
84 per cent of those people tell 570 News they always find some way to mark Remembrance Day.
However, only 20 per cent of those people attend Remembrance Day services.
87 per cent wear a poppy to show their support for the men and women who serve our country in times of conflict and war.
Of all the respondents to the survey, 85 per cent say they prefer the traditional red poppy to the white poppy, which peace groups wear to symbolize peace, not war.
A mere 1 per cent of respondents say they wear the white poppy, but 14 per cent say they can at least respect what both the red and white varieties represent.
About half of respondents say either they themselves or someone in their family have fought in a war; 3 per cent say that war is Afghanistan.
It’s a 60-40 split as to whether Remembrance Day should be a national holiday.
Three-quarters of respondents say Canada’s military history does not get enough attention in our schools.
