A criminal lawyer in Kitchener has hired a Toronto lawyer to defend him against allegations he influenced witness testimony.
In an interview with CTV, Hal Mattson also says he was shocked by his arrest.
Mattson says he was handcuffed at the Tim Hortons across the street from the Kitchener courthouse and taken to the station where he was held for three and a half hours.
Fellow criminal lawyer Brennan Smart says police could have arrested Mattson in a more dignified way, perhaps by calling and asking him to come in to the station.
Mattson is charged with obstructing justice in connection with a preliminary hearing into an attempted murder in Cambridge.
