Police have also released a description and sketch of a suspect in the case from Friday afternoon.
Police say just before 4:00 p.m. that day, an adult female party was walking on the sidewalk along Erb Street West between Ira Needles Blvd. and Fisher Hallman Rd. in Waterloo.
She was approached from behind by an unknown male who forced her off the sidewalk down a grass embankment into the yard beside a church, where she was sexually assaulted.
The victim fought back and was eventually able to escape.
The suspect is described as a male white, between 17- and 20-years old, and 5’7″ to 5’10” tall with a lean build.
He has very short dark brown or black hair in a shadow type cut.
At the time he was wearing a white hoodie, worn with the hood up, that may have a grey pattern and dark blue jeans.
He was also wearing a dark knap sack on his back.
Police say everyone should be vigilant in being aware of their surroundings, and wearing headphones and listing to music, or using other electronic devices, hinders your ability to be conscious of what is happening around you.
Anyone with any additional information is asked to contact investigators at the Major Case Branch of Waterloo Regional Police at 519-650-8500 ext. 8672, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
