There were some upsets, but not for mayor in Waterloo Region’s three cities.
Carl Zehr will be back for a fifth term as the mayor of
Kitchener.
Zehr tells 570 News quality of life will be one of his focuses going forward.
Brenda Halloran was re-elected as mayor in Waterloo.
Halloran tells us she feels privileged to have the trust and support of the community.
Doug Craig will be back as mayor of Cambridge.
Ken Seiling is returning for a 9th term as the chair of Waterloo Region.
In terms of council seats, Berry Vrbanovic, Kelly Galloway, and John Gazzola will be back around the horseshoe.
One of the most interesting races was Kitchener Ward 9, where Frank Etherington defeated Debbie Chapman by one vote.
The other new Kitchener councillors are Scott Davey, Yvonne Fernandes, Paul Singh, Bil Ioannidis, Zyg Janecki, and Daniel Glenn-Graham.
Former Kitchener councillor Geoff Lorentz will now represent the city on regional council. Tom Galloway, Jim Wideman, and Jean Haalboom were all re-elected.
In Waterloo, Mark Whaley, Scott Witmer,
Karen Scian (Acclaimed), Angela Vieth, Diane Freeman were all re-elected.
The new council members are former CTV reporter Melissa Durrell and Jeff Henry.
Jane Mitchell and Sean Strickland return as regional councillors for Waterloo.
Rick Cowsill, Karl Kiefer, Ben Tucci, Pam Wolf and Gary Price will all return to their seats on council. New faces to city council include Donna Reid, Frank Monteiro, Nicholas Ermeta.
Regional Councillors for Cambridge will stay the same with Jane Brewer and Claudette Millar holding on to their seats.
Todd Cowan upset Bill Strauss in the race for Woolwich mayor.

-over 41 per cent in Waterloo
-28 per cent in Kitchener (unofficial)
-just under 29 per cent for Cambridge
