Our latest Insider Survey at asked you about this Monday’s municipal election, and the people have spoken.
82 per cent of respondents plan to vote on October 25, and the same number say those who don’t vote have no right to complain about their elected officials.
However, only a quarter of those same respondents say they followed the election races closely — more than half say they only gave it minor attention.
16 per cent say they paid no attention at all.
And even though the election is on Monday, almost 60 per cent of respondents say they still haven’t made up their mind who to vote for.
A quarter of respondents say taxes are the top election issue; the Light Rail Transit plan came in second; no other issue came even close to those two.
The ballot question of water fluoridation was the top issue for only 3 per cent of respondents — the other ballot question of Kitchener-Waterloo amalgamation talks scored 2 per cent.
About 20 per cent of respondents say they used an advance poll to cast their vote, but an equal number say if they couldn’t make it on Election Day, they wouldn’t vote at all.
Roughly three-quarters of respondents believe on-line voting is the way of the future.
76 per cent of respondents say they always vote.
