The universities of Waterloo and Guelph have both been named Research Universities of the Year by Research Infosource Inc.
Both made the list of Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities for 2010.
They were recognized in the Comprehensive category for managing to continue research at a high pace while using their research dollars efficiently.
U-W placed first while the University of Guelph was second in this category.
The survey also found, overall, research income growth slowed last year for the top 50 universities to 3% – half the rate from the previous year.
The economic downturn gets much of the blame for the reduced funding growth.
