New program linking business and post-secondary

A new program that links businesses with universities and colleges in order to get products on the market faster is providing funding to three local schools.
Conestoga College will receive just over $747 thousand, while the University of Waterloo and the University of Guelph will each get $750 thousand.
Cambridge MP and Minister of State Gary Goodyear says right now it is difficult for small and medium sized companies to get products to the market because they don’t have the same research capacity as larger businesses.
Through the program, those smaller companies can get the universities or colleges to test their products or help with the engineering of an idea they have.
Goodyear says the program will help create jobs and maintain economic growth.
The $15 million Applied Research and Commercialization Initiative is a program funded through the federal government’s economic action plan.
