Encouraging Female Engineers

More than one thousand girls – grades 7 to 10 – are flocking to the University of Waterloo today.
They’re attending an event called “Go ENG Girl” – designed to convince more young women to enter the field of engineering.
It runs from 9 am to 2:45 this afternoon in the J.R. Coutts Engineering Lecture Hall.
It’s open to girls and their parents and is actually being staged at a total of 15 different institutions across the province.
They will hear from a variety of speakers, including engineering grads.
One message they hope to get across to the girls is to continue in mathematics and sciences through high school so they can leave their options open.
