New King Street, soon

Construction on phase two kicked off in April, and it almost looked as if it could be wrapping up this week.

But, according to Grant Murphy an engineer with the City of Kitchener, that’s not the case.

Murphy tells 570 News there is still lots of word to be done on the stretch of King Street between Francis Street and Young Street.

As of this week (September 20 – 24) base asphalt is down, and manhole adjustments are in progress. Murphy says crews will begin surface paving early next week (September 27 – October 1st). Also next week, construction on the concrete entrance feature at Francis Street and King Street will begin. It will take about 3 days to complete.

Murphy says the stretch of King Street between Young Street and Water Street should be reopened early next week. While, the stretch between Water Street and Francis Street will open up the week of October 4th.

Murphy adds that all of these projects are of course weather dependent. So, if we get any adverse conditions the scheduled reopening will be pushed back.
