Skinner signs with Canes

Kitchener Rangers centre Jeff Skinner has signed a three year entry level deal with the Carolina Hurricanes.
He was taken 7th overall in June’s NHL draft.
The deal will pay the 18 year old $810 thousand a year at the NHL level.
It also includes a signing bonus of $270 thousand.
Skinner put up 50 goals and 90 points last season with Kitchener.
He calls it an exciting day, adding he just wanted to get the contract out of the way.
Canes GM Jim Rutherford says Skinner really stood out at the team’s rookie camp.
“He’s an exciting, young player and an important part of the future for the Hurricanes.” said Rutherford on hurricanes.nhl.com

Kitchener Rangers General Manager and Head Coach, Steve Spott tells 570 News he’s not surprised.
He says now the evaluation really starts for Skinner, adding if he’s struggling or not getting a lot of ice time may be he will be sent back to the Rangers.
