Kitchener fire officials say a blaze that broke out at a home on Joseph Street this morning caused about 125 thousand dollars damage.
The fire broke out just before 7 o’clock in the upper level apartment.
Matt, a man on the main floor, tells 570 News someone started screaming, “Fire!”
Matt says he came out to find a woman crying on the stairs saying her bed caught fire — she reportedly suffered burns to her hands.
He says he ran up with a fire extinguisher while others called 911.
Fire crews had the flames under control quickly, and later continued to search for smoldering hot spots in the roof.
Officials say the blaze was not suspicious, but the cause is still under investigation.
