Facebook = narcissist?

A new study suggests that Facebook is a magnet for narcissists and people with low self-esteem.
The York University research shows that individuals with higher levels of narcissism and those with lower self-esteem spend more time on the massively popular social-networking website.
Researcher Soraya Mehdizadeh also found that these people use Facebook as a means of self-promotion.
She says women are most likely to self-promote through a carefully selected main photo, while men did so in written postings describing themselves.
The research studied the online habits and personalities of 100 Facebook users between the ages of 18 and 25.
Mehdizadeh says Facebook is an ideal setting for narcissists who can monitor how many “friends” they have.
