The city of Waterloo is closing some streets this weekend because of the busy move-in period for students.
It’s a pilot project aimed at easing congestion and keeping traffic flowing in the university area.
Traffic will be redirected on Lester and Spruce streets, as well as the surrounding areas, from 7 o’clock in the morning to 6 at night on Sunday and Monday, as well as next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 11th and 12th).
The temporary changes include no left turns onto Lester from University Avenue west or Columbia Street west.
There will also be no left turns onto University Avenue west from Lester street and no through traffic. Lester will be one-way from Seagram Drive to Columbia Street West.
The city is not allowing left turns onto Spruce from Columbia west either and Spruce will be one way from Hickory street west to Columbia.
