Site fire in Waterloo

Ash and cinders surround the gate and property of a construction site in Waterloo after an early morning fire in Waterloo.
The fire hit the roof of the Lowe’s building centre under construction at a new mega mall being built on Ira Needles Blvd. near University Avenue.
Police are blocking the entrance and several Waterloo Fire and Rescue officials are on the scene, with many more construction workers and their vehicles stuck out on Ira Needles.
Ash and cinders are blowing around the street after the 1:10 a.m. fire, and damage is estimated at roughly $100,000.
There has been no determination at this time if the fire is considered suspicious, and the investigation continues.
There is no estimate how long that investigation will take and when workers might be allowed back onto the construction site.
