Port Dover and Friday the 13th!

The town of Port Dover is expecting 100,000 motorcyclists today for its 50th Friday the 13th gathering.
This is the only time this calendar year we get a Friday the 13th — some years have seen two or three such dates though, since the biker gathering started in 1981.
570’s Neil Adams is taking in the biker bonanza in the town today, and talking with motorcyclists from around Waterloo Region.
One local biker says when you head down the road in a pack of 100 bikes, everybody just gets out of the way, and he feels like a rock star.
Another local biker says he likes the gathering just for the camaraderie.
According to the Port Dover rally website, www.pd13.com, the Friday the 13th tradition started in November 1981.
Motorcyclist, Chris Simons and about 25 friends, through word of mouth, got together at the Commercial Hotel (now known as Angelos of Dover).
It happened to be a Friday the 13th. They had such a good time they decided they should do it every Friday the 13th.
Wikipedia.com says the fear of Friday the 13th is called friggatriskaidekaphobia, “frigga,” meaning “Friday.”
