Election signs are up

We’re still more than two and a half months away from another trip to the polls, but some local candidates are already putting up election signs.

The townships of Wellesley, Wilmot and North Dumfries allow signs to start going up as early as January, when candidates register.

But mayor of North Dumfries Kim Denouden says she’s recevied some complaints about signs on lawns in the village of Ayr.

She says it’s not necessary to start campaigning in the summer and she suggests the next council look at setting a limit on the number of days before the vote that candidates can start putting up signs.

But you won’t see any election signs on regional roads or on properties in the cities of Cambridge or Kitchener.

Those municipalities have set a limit of 45 days before October 25th.
