Craig weighs in on transit

The mayor of Cambridge says regional council should revisit its rapid transit plan now that it could be stuck with a funding shortfall.
Doug Craig told 570’s Gary Doyle show regional taxpayers won’t want to put up 200 million dollars to cover the light rail plan.
He suggests that if the region continues with the light rail plan, a lack of funding could mean fewer trains or a shorter track.
And he says that will lead to lower ridership numbers and less revenue, with increased operating costs.
Craig has long been in favour of a bus rapid transit system for the entire region.
