BP says “no final decision” has been made about possible management changes following reports C-E-O Tony Hayward is on the way out.
The company says its board would meet Monday evening, a day before the it announces results for the second quarter.
British media reported over the weekend that Hayward was negotiating the terms of his departure ahead of the second quarter results announcement.
A U-S government official also said Hayward is on his way out.
Hayward was the face of BP after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico but made several comments that angered people affected by the spewing oil.
Possibly the most damaging comment was in May, when Hayward was speaking about the spill and said he “wanted his life back.”
He also minimized the environmental effects of the spill and told Congress he was out of the loop on decisions at the well before the explosion.
An offshore rig operated by B-P exploded off Louisiana on April 20, killing 11 workers and setting off the spill.
A temporary plug has stopped oil from gushing, but only after the busted well had spewed million of litres of oil into the Gulf.
