Non-stop to Vancouver

A new era in air travel begins this morning at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

WestJet’s first non-stop flight to Vancouver took to the skies at 7:00 am this morning.

It’s a seasonal service and among those on the maiden flight is 570 News reporter Mark Douglas.

It’s yet another sign of Waterloo Region’s growth and prosperity.

Mark says there are balloons and streamers hung up at the Airport, as they celebrate the new non-stop service from the Region to Vancouver and back.

Mark also talked to “Joe” – a retired teacher from Waterloo, and he’s done the Vancouver trip through Pearson Airport in Toronto before.  For him, there’s no question about Waterloo airport being the better place to start a trip.
