Sunny May

June is off to a rather choppy start weather-wise, but May goes down in the books as a jewel.

The University of Waterloo Weather Station is out with its monthly weather summary and says it was the warmest May since 1999.

Using statistics from Environment Canada, it says the overall temperature was roughly one and a half degrees above average.

It also marks the seventh month in a row the average temperature was above normal.

As for rainfall: it was slightly below normal.  We received 6.7 centimetres of rain last month with a good portion of that coming on a very soggy May 7th, when we received 2.5 centimetres or an inch of rain.

In a normal May, we’d get 7.6 centimetres of rain.
