Canada’s economy keeps creating jobs.
Statistics Canada says there were another 24,700 new jobs created in May, although the unemployment rate remained fixed at 8.1 per cent.
The unemployment rate for Kitchener saw a pretty significant drop…it’s at 8.2% for May – down from 9.0% the previous month.
May also saw a return to a more normal student job market with 54,000 more students aged 20 to 24 joining the labour force.
Employment was steady or rose in all provinces except British Columbia and Prince Edward Island, the agency says.
