No more parking…on the lawn

The City of Waterloo is cracking down on motorists who park their vehicles on residential lawns.
It’s passed a bylaw which carries a $75 fine for offenders.
It would outlaw parking in back or front yards, as well as on an illegally widened driveway, or on what it calls “any organic ground cover area.”
The new bylaw streamlines the process and allows bylaw officers now to simply ticket the vehicle. In the past, they would investigate complaints, contact the vehicle owner and tell them to move it.
If they refused, they’d be issued a summons or be served with a Provincial Offences Notice.
Now, it’s about the same as receiving a ticket for parking illegally on the street.
