Commuter challenge is on

Waterloo Region is competing with other cities in Canada this week to win the commuter challenge.

The Region of Waterloo is encouraging people who normally drive to work to use an alternative mode of transportation, like walking, cycling, or public transit.

Last year, Waterloo Region finished second in the province for the number of people who took part in the challenge, with 1,400.

That figure put us in 5th place nationally.

Based on the initial interest this year, Waterloo Region’s Manager of Transit Development, John Cicuttin says we are likely to match or exceed last year’s participation numbers.

The challenge continues until June 5th.
