Prepare to conserve

Monday is not only the beginning of a new week.  It also marks the return of Waterloo Region’s seasonal water conservation bylaw.

In effect from May 31st until September 30th, it restricts the use of water outside – most notably for lawn watering – to one day a week.

The aim of the bylaw, which has been around since 2005, is to conserve water.

This morning’s Record reports a survey of residents suggests most have now caught on to the rules and the vast majority support them.

The survey, conducted in December, found 87 per cent were aware of the regulations and 95 per cent supported the bylaw.
