The special investigations unit has taken over the probe of a man who was found dead after a confrontation with police near Markdale, southeast of Owen Sound.
The O-P-P say the man exchanged gunfire with officers and rammed their cruisers with a tractor.
Police from Grey County were called to a home (in Holland Centre) yesterday after getting reports that a man on a tractor was shooting out the windows of a home.
When officers arrived the man shot at them. Police returned fire and officers later found the man dead at the scene. Witnesses say it appeared the police cruiser was shoved into a ditch by the tractor. Police are not releasing the name of the dead man until next of kin are notified.
