A regional committee has voted in favour of bringing green bins to apartment buildings.

A demonstration approved by planning and works today will involve 4-thousand apartments.

Renters would bring down their green bin waste to the basement with the rest of their recycling.

People living in the apartments along Kingsway Drive in Kitchener tell 570 News they welcome the move.

Currently, green bins are only available for houses.

The plan still needs formal approval from Council.
