UW looks to double its size by 2050

The University of Waterloo could be poised for some major expansion over the coming decades.
The long term goal is to roughly double in size over the next 40 years.
Waterloo City Council has given the green light to conceptual plans that could see the research and technology park north of the current campus expanded.
It could also spark development of nearby vacant lands in the northwest corner of the campus.
Tuesday’s Record reports, the research park expansion alone could result in 4,000 more jobs.
That phase is expected to take 15 years to complete.
Developing the northwest corner of the campus could see even more dramatic results: adding over 13,000 new jobs over the next 40 years.
