Housing starts up in March

The local home construction sector continues to show signs of recovery.
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says housing starts in Waterloo Region were up in March.
It says construction started on 185 homes last month, up from 148 in March 2009.
Work on single-detached homes led the way, with starts totalling 90 units, up from 71.
However, there was a sharp decline in townhome starts – down to 36 units from 75.
As for the first quarter, total starts in the region were up from 341 to 574 units.
