March a lion for home sales

March was another record breaking month for home sales in Kitchener and Waterloo.

Last month was the first time ever in March that sales surpassed the 700 threshold.

They surged to 731, an increase of 47 per cent over the same month last year.

The head of the K-W Real Estate Board says spring for home sales has sprung a little earlier this year.

Ted Scharf says the economic outlook, consumer confidence and more looming mortgage rate increase are all factors encouraging home sales.

The most popular price range continues to be for homes selling between 225 and 250 thousand dollars.
