CRTC sides with TV over cable

The Canadian network TV shows that beams into your home courtesy of your chosen cable or satellite company could soon see your monthly bill increase.
The networks have won their fight to negotiate payment for their signals from cable companies, but a larger war is ahead.
While the idea has been approved in principle, the CRTC wants the Federal Court of Appeal to rule on whether the new system is legally sound.
It will be six months before the court will hear any arguments.
Cable providers have warned that if they have to pay more, they will pass the cost on to consumers.
The CBC has been excluded from the new regime — a stunning disappointment to the public broadcaster.
