Cambridge city council may weigh in tonight on the future of a city school.
The public school board is considering demolishing Grandview in Preston to make way for a new school.
Built in the 1920s, it would cost $4.5-million to renovate and expand the institution while it would run $7-million to knock it down and build a new one.
Heritage supporters want the building saved and are hoping the city will move to have it designated as a historic building.
CTV reports city staff recommends council ask the school board to defer the decision to give them time to determine if any parts of the school can be saved or if the school should be designated as historically significant.
