Waterloo Bedding to close in June

A century old business in Kitchener will cease production at the end of June.
Thursday’s Record reports the Waterloo Bedding Company will shift production of therapeutic beds from its Trillium Drive location to an operation near Buffalo.
Owner Gaymar Industries of Orchard Park, New York says the 51 local workers were told this week they will receive severance and outplacement service support.
It says the decision was made to streamline operations and cut costs.
Gaymar purchased the Waterloo Bedding Company in 2002, but prior to that it was locally owned.
It says it will continue to operate a sales office in Ontario.
