Cambridge murder case thrown out

A local murder case had an abrupt end Wednesday afternoon after the judge hearing the case dismissed it.
Justice Pat Flynn threw out the murder charge against Yousanthan Youvarajah, telling the Crown they didn’t have enough evidence for the jury.
The Cambridge man had been accused in the fatal shooting of Andrew Freake in October, 2007.
The Record reports Justice Flynn took the unusual step of ending the trial after agreeing to a request from Youvarajah’s lawyer for a directed verdict of not guilty.
Flynn ruled the Crown did not have enough evidence to support its theory that Youvarajah gave a gun to another man and told him to shoot Freake during a drug deal at a Cambridge park.
