The region is getting ready to make some repairs to a major artery in Kitchener. Watermain work will take place on Victoria Street over five months this summer. Project manager Jerry Borovicka says there will be some minor disruptions to businesses and homes in the area and the work will also require road closures and detours.
Ordovician tells 570 News the work on Victoria Street will be much less disruptive than the work that just finished on Erb. This summer’s project will happen in two phases and affect Victoria Street between Lawrence Avenue and Hazelglen Drive. Borovicka says the first phase, from Hazelglen to Westmount, will be the shorter of the two phases and may finish within a month. The bulk of the work will take place between Westmount Road and Lawrence Avenue.
The work is slated to start in June and be completed in October. A public meeting is being held at Regional Headquarters on Frederick Street tonight from 5-9-pm.
