Calling all high school students, now’s your chance to star in a professional stage production.
Drayton Entertainment is holding open auditions today for those interested in performing as members of the P.E.P. Squad in the theatre’s upcoming production of High School Musical.
That’s right the popular musical is returning for another run at Drayton and will run at the Drayton Festival Theatre.
Directed by Drayton’s David Connolly, High School Musical is the story of teens Troy, a popular high school basketball star, and Gabriella, a shy, academically gifted newcomer who discover they share a secret passion for singing.
Executive Producer Steve Roth tells 570 News, 48 students will be cast in the ensemble with professional actors playing the lead roles. Canadian pop singer Melissa O’Neil will reprise her role as Gabriella. To accommodate the rigorous schedule the student performers will be divided into groups of twelve each.
Today’s auditions will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at E.L. Fox Auditorium at John F. Ross High School in Guelph.
