Layton battling prostate cancer

Federal NDP Leader Jack Layton confirms he’s been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

During his news conference carried live on 570 News, Layton vowed to win the battle.

He says it’s the same disease his father fought 17 years ago and won.

Layton also indicated he will stay on as leader while he undergoes treatment.

Layton has had recent back pain problems, which can be a symptom of prostate cancer.
