Toyota issues more recalls

The wheels are in motion to resolve Toyota’s sticky gas pedal problem.
In the same week the company announced it is halting sales and production of eight of its models because of potentially sticky accelorators, the company has now recalled an additional 1.1-million vehicles in the U.S. because floor mat problems.
The fresh recall affects the Highlander, Corolla, Venza, Matrix, and the Pontiac Vibe.
There’s a risk of the gas pedals becoming stuck in the floor mats.
Toyota’s other massive recall in Canada and the U.S involved sticky accelerators made at a CTS plant in Mississauga.
Toyota says a redesigned pedal is in full production at CTS and no accidents or injuries have been tied to the problem.
Kitchener Toyota dealership owner, Willy Heffner of Heffner-Lexus Toyota says he doesn’t see this week’s recall having a huge impact on future sales.
Heffner tells 570 News the automaker is taking a proactive approach.
He says they’re being told to hold off on the delivery of the affected vehicles until the replacement accelerator pedal is available, which he says should be in about ten days.
The latest recall affects ’09 and ’10 Venzas and Pontiac Vibes, as well as ’08, ‘and ’09 Highlanders.
Toyota’s accelerator pedal recall includes the following Toyota Division vehicles:
2009-2010 RAV4
2009-2010 Corolla
2009-2010 Matrix
2005-2010 Avalon
Certain 2007-2010 Camry’s
2010 Highlander
2007-2010 Tundra
2008-2010 Sequoia
The floor mat recall affects five models:
2008, ’09 and ’10 Highlanders
2009 and ’10 Corolla,
2009 and ’10 Venza,
2009 and ’10 Matrix
2009 and ’10 Pontiac Vibe.
