Lack of snow means savings

At least two cities in Waterloo Region are saving money because of a lack of snow.

January marks the start of Kitchener’s fiscal year and the city only spent two per cent of its snow clearing budget this month.

Normally, it spends about 20 per cent.

The City of Waterloo says its’ snow clearing costs are less than half what they were a year ago.

The City of Cambridge says it’s too soon to tell where their winter maintenance budget stands because their fiscal year just started.
