Guelph to sever some services with Wellington County

It’s not a complete break, but Guelph is moving ahead with plans to sever some shared services with Wellington County.
Supporters maintain it will make council more accountable to city residents.
The city will take control of their own social services, at a cost of $23-million in the 2010 budget.
CTV News reports land ambulance services will now fall under the eye of a city subcommittee, and provincial police will handle emergency services in the county.
One Wellington County councillor admits the current relationship is not working, but would rather see the two agree to a merger and the formation of a regional government, than a break up.
