Family Health Team docs making more

Ontario doctors who joined Family Health Teams saw their net income increase by an average of 40 per cent.
That is what a report from The New England Journal of Medicine says.
An article in the esteemed medical journal offers a glowing review of the province’s move to create multi-disciplinary teams of health professionals to provide more patient-centred care.
The income of those doctors jumped from
$180,000 in 2004 to $250,000 last year.
The province has more than 700 doctors working in about 150 family health teams, which are paid financial incentives for providing comprehensive care seven days a week.
The article, published this week, says early results are promising and show the team practices are more efficient, provide more preventive services and better care management for chronically ill patients.
