Waterloo man guilty in assisted suicide

A Waterloo man has pleaded guilty to criminal negligence causing death.
47-year-old Peter Fonteece made the plea in a Thunder Bay court yesterday.
Fonteece stood by while his wife committed suicide in a Thunder Bay hotel room earlier this year.
In February, Peter and his wife Yanisa left Waterloo after Peter was unable to work.
The pair were headed west when their car broke down in Thunder Bay.
The court hear that the couple made a suicide pact, and that Peter watched while his wife swallowed nearly 60 sleeping pills.
A second charge of assisted suicide was withdrawn.
He will be sentenced in February.
