Blackberry service out for 8 hours

Frustrated BlackBerry users across North America
were once again without their smartphones last night.
For the second time in less than a week, a widespread outage disrupted BlackBerry email service last night.
Service was back just before 3 this morning.
In addition to the email delays, some users said they couldn’t connect to the Internet.
Waterloo-based Research in Motion is not saying what the problem was.
The outage comes on the heels of another BlackBerry email outage in North America that occurred less than a week ago.
Prior to that, the last time RIM’s BlackBerry service had a major outage was in February 2008.
That’s when an upgrade to the wireless system appeared to have been behind a three-hour service disruption affecting millions of North American users.
