It appears the founding executive director of the Centre for International Governance Innovation was fired by the man who launched the think tank.
This morning’s Globe and Mail reports, the RIM Co-CEO fired John English for, as the report suggests “failing to give the institute sufficient profile and influence.”
The report says it was his job was to recruit the world’s brightest minds to the centre.
Some experts suggest English had several things working against him including the location, which is not considered a metropolitan city, such as Toronto or Montreal.
Another key factor, they claim, is the federal government is not policy driven, meaning many of the issues tackled at CIGI failed to land on the government’s agenda.
