There is some local content at the climate conference in Copenhagen.
Kitchener’s Berry Vrbanovic is there, in his role with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Vrbanovic, 2nd Vice President of the Federation, arrived yesterday and will spend the next few days networking.
With a bird’s eye view of the event, he says it really is quite a spectacle.
He tells 570 News there are over 40,000 people registered for the conference, including delegations from over 190 countries.Clearly, this means very tight security in and around where the conference is being staged.
He says he got lucky, and managed to get his credentials in about 3-and-a-half hours, but some had to wait up to eight hours to get clearance.
Vrbanovic says hotels and restaurants are jammed, and business is booming for taxi drivers.
As for the federation, he says one of their chief goals is to get municipalities’ views included in the final text.
